Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)

"The aim of education is the knowledge, not of facts, but of values." William S. Burroughs

Our Vision for PSHE at Headcorn Primary School...

At Headcorn Primary School we pride ourselves on providing opportunities for well-rounded character development. Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education is integral to this and aims to fully equip pupils with important life skills to prepare them for the future.

Our school ethos focuses on our core values, while collective worship provides great opportunities to explore our PSHE topics further. We use the Jigsaw 3-11 scheme of learning to aid the planning and delivery of high-quality, engaging PSHE lessons. Our aim is to make PSHE lessons fun and memorable; to inspire pupils and enhance their understanding of themselves and the world around them. PSHE also incorporates pupil wellbeing and safety,
paramount in helping children make decisions to keep themselves safe. We highlight important topics, such as mental health, anti-bullying and online safety. Furthermore, at Headcorn School we are incredibly lucky to have a large outdoor space and animals. These too provide plenty of opportunities for cross-curricula learning and positively contribute to pupil wellbeing.
